Plastic water tanks are now very familiar to all of us and are an essential part of Australia’s water and drought management, on farms and at home in the garden.

Qenos has specialised understanding of the requirements of plastic tank material. It needs to be tough, durable and UV resistant. Qenos Alkatuff LLDPE products are specifically designed for use in water tanks. The long service life is planned and tested for when the polymer is produced. High resistance to impact and abrasion, high tolerance to environmental stress cracking and long term resistance to UV degradation are features of the Qenos Alkatuff PE grades used in plastic tanks by Australian manufacturers.
The Alkatuff LL711UV grade combines the fundamental toughness of linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) with specific UV and thermal stabilisation properties. This has created “purpose built” polymers which are easy to use in plastic tank manufacture, provide excellent physical properties and deliver exceptional long term performance. In the field and the home garden, water tanks made from Qenos Australian plastic maintain their strength and integrity in Australia’s harsh climatic conditions.
The base Qenos resin Alkatuff LL711UV conforms to all of the polyethylene requirements as set out in AS/NZS 4766 – Polyethylene storage tanks for water and chemicals – in fact it far exceeds these requirements. Qenos also puts Alkatuff PE through rigorous testing for performance – tensile, puncture, impact and UV weathering performance, and because PE tanks made with Alkatuff can be suitable for use with drinking water the Alkatuff LL711UV, LL705UV and LL755 grades all have demonstrated compliance to AS/NZS 4020 – testing of products for use in contact with drinking water.
